ESC JH Volleyball had an exciting match at home yesterday afternoon against SCC, the Raiders in 7th grade won 4 out of their 6 games and the 8th grade girls won 5 of their 6!!! Such a high energy group here in our junior high who plays very well together! Great work yesterday girls!!

Yesterday, five East Sac County seniors took advantage of a college fair at Iowa Central to visit with reps from 50+ Iowa and neighboring state colleges, universities, and training programs.
For college-bound seniors, October is oftentimes called “application” month! It’s the perfect time to complete any college applications and file for FAFSA! ESC is hosting a FAFSA Completion Day on Wednesday, October 15th. Seniors and senior parents can find more details and information about signing up a in a recent JMC message from Ms. Wood.

Science is Fun! Science is interesting! East Sac County Biology students have been working hard learning about the function of enzymes and inhibitors. To solidify their idea of how these two things work together we did a hands-on activity that had to do with the browning of apples. They learned that when an apple is cut and exposed to air an enzyme within the apple is activated by oxygen to start the browning process. If you put the apple in lemon juice, the lemon juice acts as an inhibitor and slows the browning process! Hands-on science leads to deeper understanding.

For the first time since at least 2017, East Sac County is elated to report that BOTH East Sac County school buildings have earned a “COMMENDABLE” rating from the Iowa Department of Education for our academic performance during the 2024-2025 school year!
In addition to this, we are proud to show East Sac County’s ISASP growth when compared to the state average from the 2022-23 school year to the 2024-25 school year. That is a lot of progress in 2 years! Growth like this takes effort from EVERYONE! School staff, students, and families! Help us celebrate this positive growth and DE ratings for East Sac County!!!

East Sac County 2nd graders received a very generous donation from the residents at Oak Terrace Estates. One of the tenant's mother was a teacher, and she wanted to honor her mother by hosting a Back-To-School supply drive. We are very grateful for the thoughtful gesture. Thank you, Oak Terrace!

Today, East Sac County 5th grade students in Mrs. Schroeder's Social Studies class had the opportunity to have our former representative in the U.S. House of Representatives, Steve King, visit to discuss The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution this morning. He was able to shine light on his duties in the Legislative Branch and also discussed the Executive and Judicial Branches. He had many interesting stories to share about areas around the world that he has also visited.
