🌧🚗🚌🚸🅿️One of the proposed facility improvement projects being considered at East Sac County is adding drainage, resurfacing, and possibly reconfiguring the flow of traffic through the Elementary Parking Lot in Sac City. If you have dropped off/picked up students or parked there for a ball game on a rainy day, you may have noticed that there are no drainage intakes in the parking lot itself and portions of the parking lot are in need or replacement and repair. Our plan is to add drainage, replace areas that need replacing, resurfacing areas that can be resurfaced, and redesign the parking lot for the safe pick up and drop off of students while improving traffic flow. This project would be considered a facility improvement and would be funded from the Voter-Approved Physical Plant and Equipment Levy. Please plan on voting Nov. 4th. 🌧🚗🚌🚸🅿️

In Personal Finance, students learned all about careers from how to pick a career that is right for them, filling out applications, completing resumes, writing a cover letter, interviewing, and writing a thank you letter. In the following pictures students are shown completing their mock interviews. Students were to apply to an open sales associate position and interview for that same position. In order to make the process as real world as possible students interviewed each other while the other students in the classroom critiqued their interviews by writing positive aspects and things that need to be improved within the interview process.
Students were to dress up and were graded on appearance, first impressions, interview content, interview technique/skills, and their closing. Students then were required to write a reflection about their interview. This was a great experience for the students; they were able to sit through an interview and get some real world experience before actually interviewing outside of school!

Last Friday, some of our Family and Consumer Sciences and Chemistry classes had a great experience this last Friday, with a presentation from Iowa National Guard recruiters Jesse Galles and Jake Shirbroun.
They shared information about Meals Ready to Eat (MREs): explaining how they work, their nutritional value, and the science behind their design. Students also had the opportunity to sample a variety of MREs, which made for a fun and engaging hands-on learning experience.
In addition, Jesse and Jake spoke with students about the Iowa National Guard as a future career and education option, helping our students consider more opportunities available after high school.
We appreciate the Iowa National Guard for taking the time to connect classroom learning with real-world applications and career exploration.
