East Sac County welding students had an incredible experience last week at the welding contest hosted by the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 33 in Des Moines!

Students were challenged to complete fillet welds in four different welding positions—including flat, horizontal, and overhead—each requiring precise technique and accuracy. Thanks to the practice and preparation they put in here at school, our students felt confident and ready to compete.

We are extremely proud of how well our Raiders represented East Sac County among more than 120 welders from multiple schools. They also had the opportunity to hear from Union 33 members and learn about career pathways supported through their education program.

A huge shoutout to our participants:
• Raymond Cornelius
• Carter Rudd
• Hayden Barthman
• Luke Steinkamp

Great job, Raiders! Your hard work, dedication, and willingness to learn new skills make us proud. We look forward to participating in this contest again in the future! 🔥🛠️👏

East Sac County’s Parade of Bands concert last night was a great showcase of our student musicians! 🎶 Students in grades 5-12 performed, beginning with the 7th/8th grade and high school jazz bands, followed by the concert bands starting with 5th grade and progressing all the way up through high school. It was wonderful to see the growth and talent across all grade levels. And a nice message for all seniors band members as they presented their parents with a rose. A great performance by all!

Alayna from Loess Hills joined us Monday for our final agriculture session of the year! She wrapped things up with a fun game of Jeopardy, helping students review everything they’ve learned each month.

Thank you, Alayna, for your time and dedication to teaching our students about agriculture throughout the year. We appreciate you making learning both fun and meaningful!

Susan and Kelsey from Iowa Trust Bank in Sac City visited our East Sac County 2nd graders today to talk about earning, saving, and spending money. Susan read a book to the students about making smart choices with their money, and every student received their own piggy bank to start saving!

Thank you to Susan, Kelsey, and Iowa Trust Bank for taking the time to support our students and teach them valuable financial skills!

🌟 Youth Marketplace in Action! 🌟

Mrs. Schroeder’s Youth Marketplace class has been hard at work preparing their projects to present to our local bankers. Our 6th graders recently shared their business plans with Steve Irwin and Lora Wright, confidently explaining their product ideas and how they plan to break even and repay their loans after the sale. We are so proud of their effort, creativity, and professionalism! 👏💼

📅 Mark Your Calendars!
Our Youth Marketplace Sale Night will take place on May 5th during the elementary concert at Sac City Elementary. Students will be selling their products from 5:30–6:30 PM.

🛍️ Come out, shop, and support our young entrepreneurs! They’ve put in the work—now let’s cheer them on! ❤️🙌

🌹 East Sac County Prom 2026 – Rose Garden! 🌹

We had an incredible turnout with 155 students attending ESC Prom on Saturday! A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the night unforgettable.

✨ The juniors set the scene by beautifully decorating the gym on Friday to match their theme, “Rose Garden.”
✨ Junior parents added to the magic by decorating the hallway leading into the gym later that evening.
✨ The planning, organizing, and work from Prom Coordinator - Mrs. Erpelding

Prom day kicked off with the Grand March, followed by professional photos taken by Studio 51. Students then enjoyed a delicious meal catered by Doc’s Place, before dancing the night away to music from DJ Repete! 🎶

The celebration didn’t stop there—Junior Parents hosted a fun-filled and entertaining after-prom event! Students enjoyed inflatables, a golf simulator, card games, blacklist dodgeball, plenty of food, drinks, and more. 🎉

Thank you to all who helped create such a memorable night for our ESC students! ❤️🌹
