Due to the continued power outage in Lake View, East Sac County will be dismissing the JH/SR High building at 10:00 AM. 7-11 students who ride the shuttle to Sac City will arrive in Sac City at 10:20 AM. 7-11 students will be dismissed for the day. Route drivers will transport 7-11 students as needed. East Sac County Elementary will remain in session as they have power and the ability to make lunch. The Elementary building will have a regular dismissal at 3:15 PM and route busses will run again at that time. Parents of 7th-11th graders, please make arrangements and note your children will be dismissed at 10:00 AM.

Currently there is a power outage at the Lake View Building. We are going to finish bus routes as normal. We will communicate with Mid American about the power status. ESC classes will continue as scheduled for now as we have students in our buildings. Updates will be provided as we learn more information. Students will be safe and cared for in both school buildings as we evaluate the power status in Lake View. Please watch for additional updates.

High school student representatives from each group spoke with the younger students about the importance of being involved and trying something new!

This past fall, we were approached by Colleen Steinkamp and Gail Eischied to build a food pantry that could be located along a street in Lake View. Some plans were drawn up and the food pantry was set in place this week.

The food pantry is located by the Methodist Church in Lake View.

Iowa Governor's Scholar Program
Iowa’s top academic students have been chosen by their member schools for the 2025 Governor’s Scholar Program. The Governor’s Office, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, and its title sponsor, the Iowa Farm Bureau, are presenting this recognition to the highest academic achiever selected by their high schools. East Sac County has chosen top ranked senior, Kendall Quirk, for this honor. She attended the awards ceremony Sunday, April 27th at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines.

A few weeks ago, the East Sac County 3rd grade students had the opportunity to travel to Storm Lake to visit our local DNR Fish Hatchery. While there they learned how to gather fish, collect eggs and fertilize them. They then were able to watch them release the fish down the slide back into the lake. Thank you so much to the Iowa DNR for hosting, the students had a great time!
