Goal setting and learning together! Unit 1 in our fourth grade SEL program was all about goal setting. Each class set a goal, created a plan, and monitored their progress. For the end of unit, students worked in small groups to create a plan on how to stack cups using only string and a rubber band! By taking time to plan, they were able to get right to work and be successful!
Today the 7-12 student body kicked off their winter sports season by having a pep rally recognizing students participating in basketball, wrestling, band/choir, FFA, student council and also the drill team. The ESC Drill Team will compete at state tomorrow (Thursday) in Des Moines at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. This year the East Sac County Drill Team will also be recognized at state with a Volunteer Award and also for having a team GPA of 3.85! Way to represent ESC!!!
East Sac County is looking for a Van Driver!!! This position is to transport students to and from Fort Dodge on a daily basis. Assistance with training and obtaining the correct licenses and credentials will be provided. Driving hours will be from 6:15 AM to 9:15 AM and 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This position requires a chauffeur's license.

3rd - 6th Grade Band and Vocal Concert + Student Art Show on Dec. 4th, 7:00 PM, East Sac Elementary Gym in Sac City.
A few weeks back, our Spanish II students took a field trip! They visited El Museo Latino. The students learned about local, national, and international artists. Exhibits presented included Pre-Columbian to contemporary art. Students learned about Rafael Doniz and how colors were added to textiles. Fun and learning was had by all!!!

Before Veterans Day our East Sac County 5th and 6th grade social studies classes were taught about what it truly means to be a veteran. Donna Bounds spoke to students about her experience in the Army and why Veteran’s Day is so important. Students enjoyed learning from her first hand experiences. Last week, the elementary celebrated World Kindness Day (November 13th) all week long during Morning Meeting!! Fifth and 6th grade students and teachers focused on what they can do to build a culture of kindness in the building. Friendly greetings, team building activities, creating kindness posters, and participating in kindness BINGO were just a few of the things students did this week.

Continuous learning takes place at all levels in a school system! This past week East Sac County Superintendent Mr. Nate Hemiller and East Sac County Board of Directors member Mrs. Laurie Kluver attended the Iowa Association of School Boards annual conference in Des Moines. They attended educational sessions as well as talked to other school leaders from across the state about best practices and how to best serve the students and community of East Sac County as educational leaders.
