East Sac County was recently recognized as Fields of Excellence Award Winner by Pioneer Paint. Only 100 fields in the nation were chosen for this award. Of those 5 were from Iowa. February is Dental Health Month!!! East Sac County 1st -4th grade students had the opportunity to listen to a Virtual Dental Presentation with Colgate. In this presentation they learned the importance of brushing, flossing, dental visits and healthy food choices. It was a great opportunity for our kids to be able to learn about keeping their teeth healthy!!!
Parent teacher conferences are TONIGHT and THURSDAY!!! To better serve all students, starting this Spring ALL East Sac County PK-12 students will have a SCHEDULED conference.
We will be discussing current academic progress, attendance, State Testing goals (grades 3-11), future goals and considerations, course registration (grades 8-11), and ensure our Seniors have everything ready for graduation!
We truly can better serve our students if we collaborate together when discussing their current and future goals. We will respect your time and will make this a very relevant and positive conference. Thank you for attending!!!
Our East Sac County students have opportunities to learn information and skills inside and outside of the classroom through our School to Careers Program. This program allows students to work in a occupation during school hours to learn employment and job skills in an area the interests them. Students are held to expectations that are required of most workplaces. Congratulations to these students who decided to take part of this program!!!
Caden Arbegast worked with Steve Nuetzman at East Sac County Schools as a ground’s keeper. Some of Caden’s duties consisted of mowing, painting, winterizing equipment, working the sports fields, cleaning the gym, and hooking up the PA system.
Dalaney McAndrew worked at Kids World Daycare Center in Sac City. She mainly worked with the children under 3 years of age. Her duties were changing diapers, getting the children their snacks, laying them down for naps, and doing activities with the children.
Morgan Stehr worked at Cielito Lindo Mexican Restaurant in Lake View as a hostess. She also was in charge of other duties such as running the cash register, rolling silverware, wiping down menus, and other duties as assigned.
Gracie Snyder worked at Milton’s on Main in Lake View as a barista. Some of the tasks Gracie completed at her job included making coffee, taking people’s orders on the register, labeling new décor, sweeping/mopping, and washing dishes.
Kaydon Erpelding worked at Bellcock Farms in Sac City and Fonda as a farmhand. Some of the tasks Kaydon completed at his placement included cleaning out cattle barns and giving the cattle hay with the skid loader, running the grain cart, running a disc, mowing, and working with Herford cows and bulls for showing.
Sam Schmitt worked at Schmitt Construction out of Wall Lake. Some of the duties Sam performed at his job were installing underground utilities such as waterlines, sewer lines, tiling, and electrical lines. He also assisted in demolition of an old farm place and helped with dirt work.
Carson Rudd worked at Lake View Lumber. Carson’s duties were staking lumber, deliveries, putting away merchandise, mixing paint, computer work, and helping customers.
Today our PK-6 East Sac County students were greeted by representatives from our local LANDUS Cooperatives. Over the years LANDUS has supported our district with many different projects and initiatives. We are thankful for their morning greetings and community support!!!
Mrs. Phillips' Second Grade Raiders are working towards writing standard W.2.1. Students will introduce a topic, state their opinion, provide sufficient evidence from the text to support their opinion, and write a concluding statement. Here you can see highly engaged and successful students!!!
Reading is very important to our East Sac County students!! Here are some pictures of our 4th graders reading with our Kindergarteners!! We love when our little Raiders learn from our older Raiders and work towards a common goal!!!
Our East Sac County Human Anatomy and Physiology welcomed a guest speaker from Buena Vista University today. Dr. Alex Berry, assistant professor of biology, talked to our HAP students about the opportunities at BVU, the various classes he teaches, and was able to bring in some fun guests. How amazing is it to live in a community where these opportunities are available to our students! Thanks BVU!
Here at East Sac County, we use technology as an educational tool as we teach and students learn. Last week Mrs. Hunziker's first grade class used their Promethean Board during phonics and morning meeting to show what they have learned in a fun and interactive way!!!
Mrs. Bruce's Preschool Class was very busy this week learning, celebrating valentines day, and celebrating the 100th day of school! These little Raiders know how to fun!!!

What and AWESOME day for East Sac County CSD!!! This morning Joe Beckman delivered a powerful message to our 7-12 students about several things that our teens face on a daily basis. He talked about the importance of human connection, resilience. and the value of being able to make someone's day. This afternoon he spoke to our K-6 students about being a change maker, being nice to others, and the importance of recognizing those who do good things. He also took time to thank all of our educators for their work everyday. Our students were respectful, good listeners, and engaged. Thank you Joe for sharing your message!!!

This morning our East Sac County Elementary students were greeted by Cy the Cardinal from the Cyclones and representatives from the ISU Extension and Outreach-Sac County for High Five Friday!!! Cy took many pictures, gave High Fives, gave a few autographs, visited every classroom, read some books, and even had time to have a doughnut from our kitchen. No matter what Iowa team you root for, having a college mascot visit our school was pretty cool for all kids to see!!!
Our First graders in Mrs. Hunziker's have been busy learning and writing!!! Our East Sac County 1st graders researched Endangered Animals for 9 weeks. Each child selected their endangered animal to research. They worked each week on a new research question about their animal. When they were completed with the unit the students took parts from each research question to write our final copy that was sent off to Studentreasures Publishing Company. We sent it off in December and just received our book this week. Mrs. Hunziker received an email that stated the book was entered into a National Book Challenge. The National Book Challenge celebrates and recognizes books written and illustrated by children. In June Mrs. Hunziker will find out if East Sac County was selected in the top 50! Nice work little RAIDERS, you did well!!!

February 5th - 9th 2024 is National School Counseling Week. The students and parents of East Sac County are very lucky to have these three dedicated ladies as our school counselors. From picking classes, planning for college, working though stressful or sad times, teaching guidance, working through problems with friends or family, or just being there for students when others can't be, these school counselors are there for our students day and night. Today was a very fun and exciting morning for our Elementary Students!!! Today our East Sac County Seniors that are involved in winter activities were our HIGH FIVE FRIDAY guests, held a PEP RALLY, and were GUEST READERS in the classrooms!! What a great group of ROLE MODELS for our younger RAIDERS! Thank you, SENIORS!!!
