🎣 Outdoor Learning at Its Best! 🎣

Our ESC JH/HS PE Classes spent two days with Sac County Naturalist Dakota Popp participating in a hands-on fishing program at Black Hawk Lake!

Sac County Conservation generously provided fishing gear for all of our students, giving everyone the opportunity to learn new skills, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the fun of fishing. 🐟🌳

It was a fantastic couple of days filled with fresh air, excitement, and real-world learning. Thank you to Dakota Popp and Sac County Conservation for supporting our students!

🍩 Family & Community Connections at ESC Preschool! 🍩

Family and community connections are an important part of our ESC Preschool Program. ❤️

On Friday, April 17th, our ESC Preschool students welcomed special visitors to celebrate Donuts with Dudes! All in attendance enjoyed freshly baked donuts and juice courtesy of our amazing ESC Food Service staff.

Students and their guests listened to a story, colored a sweet picture, and played Donut Tic Tac Toe. It was the perfect way to wrap up NAEYC’s Week of the Young Child—and such a sweet celebration of the important people in our students’ lives!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special day! 🍩💙✨

Last Friday our East Sac County seniors celebrated Decision Day with photos, cupcakes, and by sharing their exciting future plans!

While May 1st was traditionally the date colleges required admission decisions, Decision Day has grown into a celebration of ALL post-graduation pathways — community colleges, public universities, private institutions, the military, the workforce, and apprenticeships. We are proud of every student and the unique journey they’re beginning!

A huge thank you to Ms. Wood and Pura's Brewtique for providing delicious cupcakes to make the day even sweeter! 🧁

ESC is excited to see where the Class of 2026 will go next!
🎓✨ Check out the video below to see each senior’s future plans and hear a short message from them:

East Sac County NHS Students Spread Kindness in Our Community!

Our National Honor Society students spent the day visiting local nursing homes and making meaningful connections with residents.

In Sac City, members enjoyed several fun-filled rounds of BINGO with the residents 🎉. Over in Wall Lake, students helped create festive May Day baskets 🌸 and wrapped up the visit with a few friendly card games.

It was a wonderful experience for everyone involved, and our students were outstanding representatives of East Sac County High School. We’re proud of their leadership, kindness, and commitment to serving others! ❤️🙌

🌾 2nd Grade Ag Safety Day! 🚜🐾

Each year, the Sac County ISU Extension Office hosts an Ag Safety Day for all 2nd grade students in Sac County. On April 28, Mrs. Phillips’, Ms. Henderson’s, and Mrs. Ellerbrock’s classes had the opportunity to participate in this hands-on learning event!

Students learned important lessons about:
⚡ Electric safety
🏠 Home safety
🧼 Food safety & handwashing
🧪 Chemical safety
🐶 Pet safety
🌾 Grain bin safety

The Extension Office also provided lunch for all students and adults—thank you!

To wrap up the day, the K-9 team of Havoc and Sergeant John Meyer gave an exciting demonstration showing how they help keep Sac County safe. 🐕‍🦺🚓

A huge thank you to Lora and the entire Sac County ISU Extension Office for providing this opportunity for our kids. We also appreciate all the local businesses and community members who help make this day possible, including:
• Landus
• Loring Hospital
• Raccoon Valley Electric Cooperative
• Sac PD Michelle Balo
• Sergeant Meyer & K-9 Havoc

We are grateful for a community that supports safety, learning, and our students! ❤️📚🌽

East Sac County welding students had an incredible experience last week at the welding contest hosted by the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local Union 33 in Des Moines!

Students were challenged to complete fillet welds in four different welding positions—including flat, horizontal, and overhead—each requiring precise technique and accuracy. Thanks to the practice and preparation they put in here at school, our students felt confident and ready to compete.

We are extremely proud of how well our Raiders represented East Sac County among more than 120 welders from multiple schools. They also had the opportunity to hear from Union 33 members and learn about career pathways supported through their education program.

A huge shoutout to our participants:
• Raymond Cornelius
• Carter Rudd
• Hayden Barthman
• Luke Steinkamp

Great job, Raiders! Your hard work, dedication, and willingness to learn new skills make us proud. We look forward to participating in this contest again in the future! 🔥🛠️👏
