Thank you to Alayna Hansen, Program Coordinator with Loess Hills Ag in the Classroom, for visiting ESC Elementary on Friday and spending time with our Kindergarten and 2nd grade students!
Alayna read Right This Very Minute: A Table-to-Farm Book About Food and Farming with students before having them create a “farm web.” Students worked together to identify the many food, fiber, and fuel products we use in our everyday lives that come from farms and farmers.
It was a great opportunity for our students to learn more about agriculture and the important role it plays in our everyday lives! ❤️🖤
🏈 Junior High Football Update
The Junior High Football Game at Wall Lake for today has been POSTPONED to October 15, 2026.
From Caterpillars to Monarchs! 🦋🐛
Our 1st and 2nd graders have had the amazing opportunity to watch the metamorphosis process right in their classrooms! They have been observing their caterpillars as they grow and change while learning firsthand about the life cycle of a butterfly.
On Wednesday, Dakota stopped by to share one of the most exciting parts of the process - the release of Monarch butterflies! The students loved getting to see the Monarchs up close before watching them spread their wings and fly away.
Now they are even more excited to watch their own caterpillars complete their transformation into beautiful butterflies in the coming days! 🐛➡️🦋
What a special hands-on learning experience for our 1st and 2nd graders! 💛🧡

Students have been exploring how height affects the energy of an object and how energy can be transferred through collisions. They started by experimenting with moving objects like soccer balls and marbles, then built their own tracks to see these concepts in action.
Now, they’re taking their learning a step further by thinking about amusement park rides and the energy it takes to make them work! 🎢
Book Buddies are officially underway!
Mrs. Freier’s kindergarten class and Mrs. Pullen’s fourth grade class have teamed up as Book Buddies!
Students earn their time together by working hard and reading during Reading Lab. Once they reach their goal, they get to spend time reading together!
Tuesday was their first Book Buddies day, and it was a great start to this new reading tradition! 📖❤️🖤

The Cross Country Meet at Mapleton has been CANCELED.
There will be no makeup date.
Some members chose to participate in the Iowa Events: the Charcuterie Board Challenge and Trendy Drink Challenge! A special congratulations to Millie and Peyton, whose charcuterie board won first place at the 11th and 12th grade level!
We are proud of all of our members for their dedication and hard work! 👏
Our bus drivers do so much more than get our students from Point A to Point B. They are often one of the first friendly faces our students see each morning and one of the last adults they see before heading home.
They greet our students, look out for them, listen to them, and help start each school day on the right foot. We are fortunate to have drivers who care about our students and take pride in what they do.
When Al Perry was asked what he likes most about driving for East Sac County, this was his answer: “The kids! They entertain and teach me something every day.”
A big THANK YOU to all of our East Sac County bus drivers for the important role you play in our schools and our students’ lives. We appreciate you more than you know!
