We completed a few lighting upgrades this week. The Elementary Gym has new LED lights that have brightened up the area and the Auditorium at the JH/HS has 15 new color changing/programable LED stage lights to enhance our fine arts performances!!
Picture Retakes will be this Friday, November 1st in both the Elementary and High School buildings.

At the ESC Jr/Sr High School Building, we are doing the Veteran’s Day program on Nov. 11th with snacks for Veterans being served at 2 pm in the commons and then the program starting at 2:30 pm in the small gym!! Anyone from the community is welcome to attend. Handicap access to the building is located the north side of the Jr./Sr. High building.
Congratulations to East Sac Counties Rachel King! Rachel is a Senior Scholarship Finalist for an Iowa State Drill Team Association (ISDTA) Scholarship. The finalists were selected from a competitive group of 102 applicants. Each of the finalists will go through an interview process to determine the recipients. Scholarship winners will be announced at the ISDTA State Championship Award Ceremonies December 4th-6th!

The students are so excited and have been making their wish lists. Classroom teachers in grades K-4 will have them available for you at conferences. The 5th/6th graders will be bringing them home.

Tomorrow, close to 4,000 high school musicians will be auditioning across the state of Iowa for their place in the Iowa All State Band, Orchestra, or Chorus. We want to wish good luck to the 6 East Sac musicians who will be auditioning throughout the day tomorrow in LeMars. They have been working hard since this summer to prepare and go give their best at their audition. We are so proud of them regardless of what the results say tomorrow.
Instrumentalists auditioning include Max Manternach on trombone, Paige Hout on trumpet, and Ximena Sandoval on flute.
Vocalists auditioning include Emmalinn Carico, Sasrah Bontrager, and Paris McRea.

Congratulations to Nevaeh Stone, Katelyn Clayton, Makya Mann, Dallas Kennebeck, and Brayden Phillipson! These five students were accepted into the NWIBA Honor Band. These kids worked very hard to earn their seats. This is a tremendous honor and we are very proud of them! Way to go!
An extra special congratulations to Mr. Brayden Phillipson who was selected to perform with the All-Iowa 8th Grade Honor Band in May. Brayden received the top score on his ballot of all the Euphonium players auditioning in Northwest Iowa. Awesome job Brayden!
Tonight was sure a great night for our MS Football team! They won their game vs. Pocahontas and to make it even more special, they had the support of the HS Football Team and Coaches who were there to cheer them on!!! Just as the younger kids support our older kids, the older kids returned he favor tonight. GO RAIDERS!!!
To start the year, the 3rd graders read two different Magic Treehouse stories. They then identified elements that make a story a Magic Treehouse story. For their final project, they are working on writing their own Magic Treehouse stories. The goal for the students is to write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. They have been working very hard to edit their papers & create their final product. They are very excited to share these with their parents and guardians at conferences!

Ms. Hoefling's Intro to Ag class has been learning about Parliamentary Procedure. During this specific class period, students had the opportunity to put the skills they have learned into action, by creating a Candy mixture or "salad". In order to get a specific candy in the mixture, students had to properly make a motion, discuss, and pass the motion before it was added. It is important for students to learn how to properly run a meeting and the rules that go along with parliamentary procedures as they go into their future careers!
ESC Government class students held a debate for a mock presidential election in front of the entire student body today!! For a class project, these students held primaries in their classes and picked one candidate from each class and these two are now going head to head to see who could be the winner! Students will vote next week to complete this project. And it was a great interactive look at the presidential process from primary, to debate, to final vote!
This morning we welcomed Park View Rehabilitation Center to our building for High Five Friday! Students truly enjoy having special greeters on Friday mornings; what a great start to the day!
